Senior Software Developer - Mobile: Android



Edmonton, Alberta


The QBO Canada team is looking for an Android Senior Software Developer who is ready to be a difference maker – with their engineering skills, their passion for the customer and for their local community.  The QBO CA team is responsible for delivering innovative solutions that power the difference makers in Canada’s economy: small business owners and their trusted advisors, accountants.  The mobile engineer has the responsibility of building Canada specific features and improvements into Intuit’s mobile apps for Small Businesses and Solopreneurs to simplify their lives and drive success in their businesses.


This position is right for you if you have:

  • Equal pride in your customer empathy, engineering excellence and speed to delivery
  • Deep customer empathy and the ability to quickly translate insights into mockups, wireframes, and working proof-of-concept code
  • Expertise in quickly translating design (Adobe illustrator, Photoshop, PDF, PNGs) in to working Android code
  • Ability to mock out server side dependencies to move fast. Knowledge of server side development processes, tools, and technology is a huge plus




Required Experience

  • 3+ years of experience developing mobile applications
  • 1+ years of experience with web services (consuming or creating) with REST or SOAP
  • Always Be Learning attitude & practice: demonstrated passion for continual learning and an “under-the-hood” understanding for how tools & frameworks work
  • BS/MS in computer science or equivalent work experience
  • Strong experience with any of the following Object Oriented Languages (OOD): Swift, Objective-C
  • Experience with the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Solid communication skills: Demonstrated ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong understanding of the Software design/architecture process
  • Familiarity with Android UI design principles and accessibility best practices
  • Experience with unit testing & Test Driven Development (TDD)

Preferred Experience

  • Experience developing, maintaining, and innovating large scale, consumer facing web or mobile applications
  • Experience with social, mobile, cloud/SaaS, big data, or analytics
  • Familiar with the development challenges inherent with highly scalable and available web applications
  • Experience with various, modern web frameworks
