Why did you choose Intuit?

Lana
Coming out of college, I was interested in jobs where I could learn about different industries and gain different skills. When I learned about RDP and the opportunity to try various jobs in different groups while getting leadership experience, it was too hard to pass up. I joined because I saw that Intuit cared about developing employees and that was very important to me.

What has been your favorite RDP experience?
My favorite RDP experience was to work in the experience design group and learning the design mindset and tools. I have always been creative and artistic, and it was such a cool experience to design software from scratch. I went into the rotation with zero experience and came out applying design into my marketing job, teaching others how to think with customers in mind and even using what I learned in my personal life designing and selling apparel.

How have you made an impact at Intuit?
I have worked on pilot programs that are full services now. I have designed website experiences and simplified and improved shopping paths. Now I make decisions on how customers should learn about and buy our products. I directly impact the customers’ experience in everything I work on, and I'm proud of the work we do.

What makes you excited to come to work every day?

I enjoy the work that I'm doing and the growth opportunities that are available, but the best part of my job is the people I interact with every day. I’ve got the best manager I could have who cares about my growth in the company and my personal well being. I respect and admire my team members who have so much more experience than I do and who are so open about sharing their experiences and helping me grow. And I’ve made great friends whom I enjoy being with outside of work. The people I interact with make my job so much more fun!

How does Intuit allow you to be innovative?

There is a lot of flexibility here to do what you want. I work with my manager to adjust my job so that I can do the things I enjoy while growing my skill set. There are opportunities to move around to different projects and teams when you want to learn something new. And there are various organizations you can join that share the same interests as you. For example, the Next Generation employee network connects early-career individuals and provides trainings on growing your career.

Tell us about your interests outside of work.
I love being outdoors, especially hiking and exploring new areas. There’s nothing like hiking to a gorgeous view of San Francisco on a beautiful sunny day!  I also design shirts featuring adorable animals, and luckily my friends and family actually buy them!

What makes Intuit a great place to work?
I work with great people who care about me and help me grow. I have opportunities to learn new things, gain new skills and try different projects. I have work-life balance and flexibility to work from home. And I directly impact customers in the work that I do and the decisions that I make. For me, that’s what makes Intuit a great place to work.

What skills did you acquire throughout your two years that will make you successful in your career?
The art of framing. Every communication that I have – emails, presentations, meetings – I consider who the audience is, what I need to accomplish, what they want to accomplish and how to get to the desired outcome quickly and with consensus. This is a valuable skill to have in any job, but one that takes practice and great coaching, which I’ve been lucky to get. I'm continuing to hone that skill.
